The AWhere Add-Ins SDK includes documents, samples, and templates that you will need when developing an add-in for one the AWhere products, such as AWhere Professional and AWhere Express. Please read over carefully the AWhere Add-Ins document included in the SDK. It contains information and requirements needed when developing an AWhere add-in.
The templates included are for the Visual Basic® 6 and Visual Studio 2003/2005 environment. The templates will allow quick and rapid development of certain add-ins, saving the developer the redundant tasks of adding references and implementing the required interfaces. Note: Requires AWhere Professional or AWhere Express to be installed.

The AWhere Microsoft PowerPoint add-in helps you quickly and easily produce multiple Microsoft PowerPoint slides from your maps. A slide may be generated from your current map display or automatically create a slide show from a series of maps that you have selected. You have the option of using your own PowerPoint slide template for a consistent look and feel. Note: This add-in requires AWhere version 3.8.22 or higher.

This Grid Algebra Add-In allows you to perform various mathematical operations on any raster data that you have inside of an AWhere data set so that you may output a new grid. This Add-In provides the interface and tools that you will need to construct a mathematical expression which, when run, will result in the output of a new grid map layer.

This Add-In provides two separate utilities; these two utilities provide the ability to generate grid-poly shapefiles for use in AWhere. 1) Point Interpolation Utility - This tool allows you to interpolate a point map layer (that contains "continuous" type numeric data) into a grid-poly shapefile of whatever cell size desired. 2) Grid-ASCII file Importer - This tool will take an existing Grid-ASCII file (generated in an external GIS program), and import it into a grid-poly shapefile. These two utilities will be available by selecting "Grid Utilities" from the "Spatial Tools" list above the treeview, and then selecting the desired utility from the list to the right of that.

The tools in the Spatial Sampling Add-In allow you to perform random selections of mapped features,and also to create sets of randomly or systematically generated points. These operations may be necessary to identify (or designate), for example, households or villages, in which to conduct interviews (creating a sampling frame). These tools will allow you to establish your on-the-ground survey locations so that they are statistically random or systematic, thereby reducing the introduction of bias into your data collection. These tools will be available by selecting "Spatial Sampling" from the "Spatial Tools" list above the treeview, and then selecting the desired tool from the list to the right of that.

The AWhere Location Finder Add-In provides location/feature searching and mapping capability inside AWhere. You simply connect to your own custom built location database (which must, at minimum, contain X and Y coordinates for the searchable locations/features) and you can then perform searches on any number of constraint fields. The Help documentation for this add-in explains how to create your own custom location database.

This Climate Graph tool will work only if a shapefile containing long-term normal climate data exists within the current database; most of AWhere,Inc's freely available, foundation country and state data sets contain the required Long Term Normal map layer. The Climate Graph shows "long-term average" annual or seasonal climate statistics, for precipitation, evapotranspiration, maximum temp, and minimum temp, at the user-selected site. The Climate Graph tool is very flexible and several options exist to manipulate or alter the appearance and contents of the Climate Graph.

The Aggregate Add-In is designed to allow AWhere users to calculate summary statistics for groupings of features (features that either have some unique value in common, or that are assigned to a common numeric class break) within a given polygon map layer. Not only are summary statistics for these groupings calculated and reported in the output, but also the boundary lines that separate the map features of each group will be dissolved into new "aggregated" polygons, and these new polygons will be the new map features in the output map layer. The summary statistics that are calculated for each aggregation will be the attributes of the new aggregated polygons in the output layer. Note: This Add-In is installed by default with AWhere Professional.

The Spatial Join Add-In is a tool that allows you to append the attributes of the features of one map layer to the features of another map layer, where the features of the map layers intersect. You can apply the attributes of multiple map layers to one other map layer. This add-in also provides the ability to calculate summary statistics for all of the features from one map layer that intersect (or are ‘near to’ in the case of points) a given feature of another map layer. If you found the Point Drill-Down tool helpful (from previous versions of AWhere), this new add-in replaces that tool. Note: This Add-In is installed by default with AWhere Professional.

The Intersect Add-In computes the geometric intersection of two polygon map layers; only those features in the areas common to both map layers will be preserved in the output map layer, and attributes from both map layers are carried over to the output map layer.
