Looking for a way to map your data by U.S. zip code? You’ve found a solution!

First a little education: Postal /Zip code data files are tough to track down since Zip Codes are actually delivery routes, not areas and are constantly being revised by the USPS. Free postal data in a useable format is very tough to come by and this is especially the case with quality postal/Zip code data, as the data requires constant updates.

The AWhere Solution: In partnership with Maponics®, a leading provider of mapping services and solutions, we have assembled an zip code map layer as an AWhere amap file and made it available for use with AWhere Express or AWhere Professional. It contains a single map layer of the zip codes of the 50 United States and Puerto Rico, plus additional attributes: Postal Town, County, State, 3-Digit Zip Code, business and residential deliveries, P.O. box deliveries, single and multi family deliveries and latitude and longitude. And is priced at $500.

Since Zip Codes are actually delivery routes, not areas. Maponics had created areas around the routes to represent zip code coverage. Next, the boundaries were simplified to reduce the file size. Using this map layer you will be able map your data to the layer, or use AWhere’s spatial join tool to aggregate data from another layer.
