Position Overview

aWhere delivers agricultural intelligence into the hands of farmers, commercial growers, commodity traders and policy makers globally. aWhere operates a global-scale agronomic information platform with the capacity to process a billion points of data every day, creating unprecedented visibility and insight across the agricultural earth. aWhere is helping to transform how agricultural decisions are made across the agricultural value chain by providing a level of visibility and insight that has never existed before.

aWhere is seeking a highly motivated individual to lead strategy and development of its Agricultural Intelligence products and services. The Director of Product Management for Insight and Analytics will possess the experience and expertise to grow aWhere’s business and have strong leadership skills. Must be self-driven, autonomous and results oriented with a multicultural,  entrepreneur mindset, and a clear focus on business profitability.  He/she will be responsible  for growing aWhere revenue by identifying and developing a full suite of aWhere’s agricultural intelligence and insight solutions. The Director will work closely with the rest of the senior management team to ensure business objectives and revenue targets are met and exceeded on a quarterly basis.

Key Responsibilities and Functions

  • Act as the key business leader, evangelist and primary point of contact for internal and external stakeholders regarding the product vision, strategy, financial performance and new product development
  • Develop portfolio, solution and product strategies that articulate market needs, market potential and segmentation, competitive landscape, solution offering(s), packaging, pricing, value position, differentiation and roadmap around commodity trading and supply chain management
  • Guide market awareness activities and synthesize all inputs into comprehensive insights that facilitate understanding of industry problems, competitive landscape, buyer and user personas and emerging trends in order to inform strategy development, optimization and execution for aWhere and its customers
  • Lead the Insight team of scientists and analysts that help develop and deliver insight products and services across all markets; work with the engineering  team on productization of insight products
  • Develop and coordinate commercial launch and product development lifecycles with key business stakeholders using MVPs and a data driven approach to product development
  • Provide operational oversight of portfolio, solution and product level revenue and expense performance to inform short, medium and long term solution level plans and drive business optimization and continuous improvement
  • Collaborate with Sales and Marketing to develop, execute and optimize marketing plans
  • Cultivate solution/product and operational innovation based on emerging market trends, new technologies and best practices

Qualifications

  • Ideally 10+ years' relevant experience in product management roles
  • Substantial experience in agriculture industry and/or Saas or Data Analytics is preferred; commodities experience a plus
  • MBA preferred or degree in Business/equivalent combination of education and experience in industry/workflow.
  • Global/international experience preferred
  • Capable of operating independently while becoming a key component of a small leadership team
  • Strategic, analytic and creative thinker;  able to identify changing market drivers and opportunities and take initiative to pursue them
  • Demonstrated exceptional written communications skills, including ability to independently write or edit customer-facing or external communications
  • Demonstrated exceptional verbal communication and presentation skills, including the ability to develop and conduct presentations for clients, prospects and executive management
  • Expert knowledge of all aspects of solution/product management techniques, including P&L management, portfolio management, agile product development, commercial product launches, and solution-based selling/marketing
  • Expert ability to independently manage multiple product initiatives across multiple products and multiple product teams
  • Demonstrated exceptional conceptual and analytical skills to form the basis of well-researched and documented business plans and solution strategies
  • Demonstrated exceptional ability to identify, analyze, evaluate alternatives and formulate responses to resolve business and customer problems
  • Quickly analyzes, incorporates and applies new information and concepts, and is able to make effective decisions even under pressure while considering immediate and long term consequences of the decision
  • Proficient with PC and related software, including Microsoft Office suite

  • Must have the ability to sit in front of a computer for extended periods of time
  • May require occasional lifting of a minimum 25 pounds from above, below and on an even plane
  • Work is performed in a normal, climate controlled and lighted office environment
