Our company has a history of working in international development assistance programs and has the experience in developing tools to meet the needs of the international aid workers. AWhere , our flagship product, grew out of the AWhere-ACT project, which was facilitated through a joint partnership among USAID, CIMMYT and Mud Springs Geographers, Inc.
We are committed to improving the lives of others by being involved in a large number of assistance programs in developing countries. Our international experience extends from Africa to Asia to Latin America. Our AWhere application takes the GIS out of the specialized labs and puts it into the hands of people managing and implementing assistance programs.
AWhere has a huge, integrated set of geographical data and easy-to-use query tools that are designed for use in economic development, humanitarian assistance, and agriculture and natural resource management activities. AWhere ' success in international relief and development and it's wide acceptance as a solution for aid workers in developing countries has taken our commitments in this field to higher levels.
Usage scenarios
Afghanistan: Food aid distribution
Using AWhere Professional, a client organization in Afghanistan produces weekly, monthly and quarterly maps of food aid distributions for donors, managers and field staff.
These maps are produced by local staff who have had no training in GIS or mapping. They are able to import excel spreadsheets directly into AWhere, create a map to spatially represent their data and then either copy and paste those maps into a MS PowerPoint presentation or a MS Word document or exchange their map(s) with colleagues locally, regionally or globally.
With AWhere Professional's Exchange technology, your maps, tables and data can be shared with other AWhere Professional users. Additional information can be added, colors changed and the map returned or sent on to others.
The ability to view food aid distributions through tables and maps has allowed food aid managers to visualize geographic linkages among program activities, factors of vulnerability and to mitigate overlap with programs implemented by other organizations.

Afghanistan: Poppy Cultivation and Project Monitoring
AWhere Professional allows you to visualize the geographic distribution of your program activities in relation to socio-economic, environmental, meteorological or human factors.
For one client assessing the geographic overlap of funded projects with poppy cultivation was an important aspect of project monitoring. One of the objectives of the program was to create alternative sources of income in poppy growing regions.
Using the characterization tool in AWhere Professional, the client was able to conduct a query to discern whether or not the targeting of the project areas was accurate. The third map below clearly points out gaps in the geographic targeting of the client’s activities.

Mozambique: HIV/AIDS Mapping
Map your HIV/AIDS program related data to help with all aspects of management including: targeting, program planning, program management, monitoring and evaluation.
This map was created to spatially represent food aid priority districts in Mozambique in relation to districts with a high prevalence rate of HIV/AIDS.
These geographic overlays of information assist program managers to easily visualize and analyze the where, what and when of program activities. The program managers now have an increased ability to see patterns which may not be readily apparent through spread sheets or tables.
The map was created by linking data from a MS-Excel spread sheet - food aid beneficiary numbers and health indicators on the prevalence of HIV - to a map layer in AWhere Professional.
