Lauren Allognon

Project Manager

Lauren joined aWhere in January 2019 and manages our diverse portfolio of global engagements. Her pragmatism, creativity and positivity comes out in everything she does. Lauren has been passionate about sustainable agriculture and improving global food security since her time as a Peace Corps volunteer in Benin, West Africa where she worked closely with smallholder farmers. Upon returning to the US, Lauren completed an MA in International Development (environmental policy and sustainable development focus) from the Josef Korbel School of International Studies. During this time she became interested in geographic information systems and is currently completing an MS in Geographic Information Science where she is focused on how data science and GIS can inform agriculture topics. Lauren strongly believes that getting high quality data into the hands of those who can take action is critical for building resilience and improving adaptation to climate change.

David Bergvinson, PhD.

Chief Science Officer

David joined aWhere in February 2019 to accelerate innovation and access to premium weather data and agriculture insights for farmers, agribusiness, agri-food and policy makers globally. David's diverse experience in crop improvement, agronomy, pest and disease management and policy formulation are now being leveraged to integrate weather and data science into workflows across the entire agrifood sector. As Director General of an International Research Center (ICRISAT), David developed his skills and network to ensure science, demand-driven innovation and strategic partnerships come together to translate science into prosperity for rural families at a national scale, especially for rainfed farming systems in Asia and Sub-Saharan Africa. David initiated Digital Design for Agriculture at the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation in 2012 building on a large crop improvement and agronomy portfolio. As Director General of ICRISAT, David strengthened partnerships to leverage digital technology to deliver farmer-preferred products and services. Since weather drives agriculture, his role as Chief Science Officer at aWhere has enabled him to focus on taking agronomy to scale through aWhere’s Agronomic Insights supported by down-scaled observed weather to drive decision support systems at a global scale.

Beau Bush

Co-Founder, Chief Operations Officer

Beau has undergraduate and graduate degrees from Texas A&M focused on environmental science through the utilization of emerging technologies. Wearing many hats during his career, he has served as data analyst, research scientist, programmer, dba, systems administrator, IT infrastructure architect, account manager, project manager and product owner. Eventually we realized that was too much to put as his title and he was a perfect fit for our company COO. Problem solved.

John D. Corbett, PhD.

Co-Founder, Chief Executive Officer

John is a Dartmouth Alumni and an agricultural climatologist with a focus on educating the world about agricultural risks due to our ever changing and increasingly volatile climate. In order for John to work his magic and realize his vision, aWhere has created a global resource of high-resolution, current, daily observed and forecast agronomic weather data. This vision is the culmination of 25+ years of work in agriculture, international development and now a growing focus on digital agriculture including capacity building. John understands how the volatility due to climate change can threaten economic and social stability.

Systems Administrator

Brian has the title of Systems Administrator, but he wears many hats. From Linux and Storage Area Network Ninja to helping those IT challenged staffers figure out why their laptop is "Blue Screening", this former US Navy Seabee has everyone covered. By the way, if you ever find him gaming online "It's Fumbles. It was always Fumbles."

Colin Loftin

Data Analyst, Meteorology

From the time Colin joined aWhere after receiving a degree in Meteorology from NC State, he has shown a high aptitude for leveraging technology, data assets and domain expertise to tackle our most challenging tasks. Colin is the versatile swiss army knife on our data engineering team. Whether it be complex data integration and curation, efficient transformations of large volumes of data, building elegant code for running deep statistical analysis, quickly standing up consumer facing data applications that deliver value, or whatever data problem we throw at him, he has things covered and is our go to guy.

Drew Marticorena, PhD.

Senior Data Scientist

Drew graduated with honors from Yale University and followed that up with a Master’s (Duke University) and PhD (North Carolina State University). Drew leads aWhere’s efforts to develop statistics-based models to provide actionable and insightful information across the agricultural value chain. His work makes extensive use of statistical theory, data mining, machine learning, forecasting, and spatio-temporal analyses all implemented through a nuanced understanding of agriculture, soil science, and ecology. Drew has a high aptitude for distilling down complex problems into pragmatic solutions that often seems like sorcery.
