World Weather WatchER Series: Week of August 16th

Increasing weather variability and shifts in weather patterns due to climate change is posing a severe risk to rainfed agriculture that impacts on food security in the most vulnerable populations. Today we are pleased to introduce an index to bring an accurate and timely view of shifting agroecological zones that were first introduced by the FAO over 50 years ago. This video walks you through the design and thresholds we use as well as how we can estimate the population at risk of food insecurity at a 9 km resolution around the world.
